Funeral services for Dean Will, 87, of Cherokee, formerly of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Thomas Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00, with the family present, at the First United Methodist Church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Herbert Dean Will was born December 23, 1927, the son of Herbert J. and Gladys (Lane) Will on the family farm at Aurelia. He graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1945. On November 25, 1949, Dean married Eveline Stanworth at the St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Cherokee, IA. They made their home on the farm at Aurelia for 54 years, retiring in 1999. He served with the Iowa National Guard, being discharged in 1954. Dean was recognized as the Master Pork Producer for the State of Iowa in 1981. Dean was a partner in the creation of Maple Valley Wood Shavings in Aurelia. He was a lifelong member of the Aurelia First United Methodist Church where he served on numerous boards and committees. Dean enjoyed all things agriculturally related. After retiring Dean became a delivery driver for Sleezer Select Stock for several years. The last few months he mastered (more or less) the iPhone with much assistance from the children, and enjoyed showing off his skill.
Dean died Friday, May 15, 2015, at the Cherokee Villa Nursing and Rehab Center.
Preceding Dean in death were his parents, his parents-in-law; Rev. Ernest and Mary Stanworth, his sister Marian Will Reilly, and twin grandsons; Xander and Xaine Yost.
Survivors include his wife Eveline of Cherokee, eight children; Jeffrey Will of Adel, IA, Laurie and her husband David Rehnstrom of Hartington, NE, Kevin Will of Gaithersburg, MD, Suzanne Lux of Lincoln, NE, Christine and her husband Randy Albers of Urbandale, IA, Richard Will and his wife Julia Getchell of Portland, OR, Sara and her husband John Yost of Olathe, KS, and Andrea Will of San Antonio, TX. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren; Jenna Rehnstrom and her husband Chris Liberto and their children Hunter and Quinn of Sioux City, IA, Jordan Rehnstrom of West Des Moines, IA, Nicole Will of Virginia and her children Trinity, Violet, Wisdom, Virtue, and Cody, SeAnne Will of Maryland and her children Alyssa and Anthony, Grant Will of New Hampshire and his daughter Cadence, Abigail and her husband Aaron Kalkbrenner and his daughter Julia of Waterloo, IA, Brittany Lux of Sioux Falls, SD, Jaden Lux of Sioux City, Katie and her husband Grayson Path of Nebraska City, NE, Stephen and his wife Lacey Albers of Searcy, AR, Megan Albers of Searcy, AR, MacKenzie Yost of Kansas, and Spencer Strait of San Antonio, TX, one sister, Joann and her husband George Pithan of Sioux City, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends
