ARLISS A. FRIEDRICH

Memorial services for Arliss A. Friedrich, 87, of Alta, formerly of Galva, will be Friday, May 12, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alta, with Pastor Christopher Harrison and Pastor Paul Egger officiating. Following the service lunch will be held at the church. Inurnment will follow for Arliss and Susan at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Galva, IA, at 1:30 P.M., with Military Honors by Dibbern American Legion Post #454 of Galva. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

          Arliss Arthur Henry Friedrich was born on October 26, 1935 in Hanover, IA, the son of August Edward and Ida Marie (Lichtenberg) Friedrich. Arliss entered the service on December 2, 1953 and was honorably discharged from the US Army on December 1, 1955. He married Susan Jean Hetrick on June 15, 1956 at the Alta Presbyterian Church. He worked for a number of area farmers, the elevator, and the salebarn in Alta. He spent 30 years working at Wilson Foods in Cherokee, IA. Arliss was also a rural mail carrier and he and his wife, Susan, operated the Ridgerunner’s Roost in Galva for 20 years. He and Susan were members of a Black Powder group called the Ridgerunners. Arliss was a member of the Dibbern American Legion Post #454 in Galva.

          Arliss died on April 29, 2023 at the Aurelia Accura Nursing Home. Where he had been a resident since March 7, 2023.

          Preceding Arliss in death were his parents, a stillborn brother, Howard, one grandson, Stephen Friedrich, brother, Melvin Friedrich, sister, Lorraine and husband Henry Glienke, two sisters-in-law; Sally Caboth and Jane and her husband Lionel Breyfogle, and brother-in-law, Orie and his wife Vernita Hetrick. His wife of 65 years; Susan Friedrich on January 17, 2022.

          Survivors include one daughter, Audrey Friedrich of Storm Lake, two sons; Scott and his wife Carol Friedrich of Alta, and Howard Friedrich of Alta. Also surviving are one grandson, Matthew and wife Angie Friedrich of Sioux Rapids, six great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Don Caboth of Alta, one sister-in-law, Phyllis Friedrich of Algona and other relatives and friends.
