Funeral services for Lois G. Grigsby, 93, of Aurelia, will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 29, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Linda Morris officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, with the family present, at the First United Methodist Church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Lois Geraldine Galvin was born March 10, 1929, the daughter of John V. and Gladys (Will) Galvin at Cherokee, Iowa. She attended school in Aurelia, graduating from Aurelia High School in 1946. Lois then went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls, IA from 1946 until she graduated in 1950. She was the valedictorian of her high school class, and graduated with honors from college. Following her graduation she went on to teach history and English at Rolfe, and then taught at Sutherland. On January 7, 1954 Lois married Charles R. Grigsby at Peterson, IA. She raised four boys and was the dispatcher for Grigsby Trucking. Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, and was active in United Methodist Women, Mary Circle, and the Aurelia Heritage Society. She enjoyed genealogy and local history.
Lois died Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, IA.
Preceding Lois in death were her parents, brother Vernon Galvin, sister-in-law Darlene Castille, and brother-in-law Lanny Grigsby.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Charles Grigsby of Aurelia, four sons and their wives; Alan and Laura Grigsby of Hinton, IA, David and Beth Grigsby of Sioux City, Paul and Kristal Grigsby of Sioux City, and Ross and Iwen Grigsby of New Brighton, MN. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Alyssa, Daniel, Karen, Stephanie and husband Derek Simonsen, Samuel, and Ryan, brother-in-law, Marlan and his wife Judy Grigsby of Arvada, CO, and sister-in-law, LaVerne Grigsby of Storm Lake, IA, and other relatives and friends.
