Alberta Ann Hintz was born on the family farm near Holstein, Iowa on December 6, 1933, the daughter of Henry C. and Gertrude (Schmidt) Hintz. As a child growing up on the farm she attended country school until the 6th grade often walking the mile trip to school and back. Alberta enjoyed the farm life, helping her dad drive the tractor and developing a love of baking which she continued to do all throughout her life. In 1952, she graduated from the Ida Grove High School.
On December 14, 1952, Alberta was united in marriage to Richard Lee Aduddell in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. The couple welcomed home five children, Douglas, Darrell, Ross, Amy, and Janette. Early in her married life, Alberta was a telephone operator at the Ida Grove Telephone Office and after the children were older she worked for 16 years in the dietary dept. at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee. Alberta was a gifted embroiderer, enjoyed fishing with her sister Lorraine, baking many delicious treats, loved playing cards and games, and adored all of her grandchildren.
