Funeral Services for Michael A. Nordstrom, 71, of Storm Lake, formally of Aurelia will be held, Friday, January 3, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Aurelia Community Center in Aurelia. Pastor Bruce Rapp will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 at the Aurelia Community Center with the family being present. Burial will be in the Diamond Township Cemetery, Aurelia. The Redig Funeral Home of Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Michael Alan Nordstrom was born on July 7, 1953 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Theodore and Rebecca Lucile (Blanch) Nordstrom. He attended school in Aurelia graduating in 1972. Michael worked a variety of jobs through the years, he was a farmer, mechanic, and worked in several packing plants. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt NASCAR fan. He enjoyed working on cars, and liked to make jokes, even if the joke missed the mark of being funny, but he tried.
Mike died on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at the Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City.
Preceding Mike in death were his parents, Theodore & Lucile Nordstrom and one brother-in-law: Ray Biggerstaff.
Surviving Mike in death are his children: Kevin Nordstrom and his fiancée Laura of Bettendorf, IA, Kimberly Mathis of Holstein, IA, Stephanie and her husband Dennis Smith of Holstein, IA, Justin Nordstrom of Schaller, IA. Step children: Cory Anderson of Schaller, Richelle Brown of Ames, IA, Ashley and her husband Jon DeYoung of Holstein, IA. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Mariah and husband Dallas Lansink of Battle Creek, IA, Anna and husband Kole Erickson of Holstein, Courtney and husband Noah Olney of Indianola, IA, Trae and fiancée Corral Nordstrom, Ameera Nordstrom, Quintin Nordstrom all of Bettendorf, IA, Jaelynn Pierse of Battle Creek, IA, Jaycee Mathis of Spencer, IA, Jaxkson Kramer of Rockwell City, IA. Former wives: Pauline Nordstrom, Libby Rex. Four Step grandchildren: Aiden Brown, Somer Dawn, Wallace and Harrison DeYoung. Six great granddaughters: and two great grandsons, with one more on the way. His one sister: Janelle Biggerstaff of Aurelia, nephews and nieces: Brock and wife Alicia Biggerstaff, Kyle Biggerstaff, Kory and wife Kirsten Biggerstaff, Jake Biggerstaff, Jennifer and husband Tim Petersen, Jill and wife Karilyn Biggerstaff, Joel and wife Gillian Biggerstaff, other relatives and friends.
