Kenneth P. Nord

A celebration of life service for Kenneth P. Nord, 88 of Cherokee, formerly of Storm Lake, will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Moose Lodge in Storm Lake from 12:00-4 P.M.  The Redig Funeral Home of Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Peter Nord, the son of Claus Otto and Ester Natalie (Johnson) Nord, was born on June 4, 1936 in Cottonwood, MN. He attended country school in Cottenwood County and Wilson High School in Cherokee where he graduated in 1954.  He then attended BV College in Storm Lake and Business School graduating in 1956.  He was united in marriage to Trudie Lue Putnam in Sioux Falls, SD.  While attending college, he worked at a funeral home, then the Holiday Gas Station in Storm Lake and the Storm Lake Police Department.  Ken then became a dispatcher for the Iowa State Patrol, retiring in 2002.     He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee.

Kenneth was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge in Texas.  He enjoyed computer surfing and singing Karaoke.

Kenneth died Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Careage Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Cherokee where he had become a resident on May 20, 2023.

Survivors are his children and their spouses: Tami (Jeff) Ebel of Storm Lake, IA, Terry and (Peggy) Meyers of Alta, IA, and Ty (Annie) Meyers of Des Moines, IA. Special nephew Randy (Pam) Peterson.  Eight grandchildren: Mitchell Ebel, Katie (Bryan) Scrieber, Amanda (Jake) Henning, Kily  (Collin) Johnson, Nicholas Meyers, Kelsi (Chase) Meyers, Makenzie (Mason) Meyers, Emilee (Shane) Lehman, eleven great-grandchildren: Crosby & Maddie Scrieber, Chip, Penny, Rev, Jed Johnson, Karsyn & Maisyn Meyers, Evelyn Lehman, Sloane Henning, Harvey Henning, and other relatives and friends.

Preceding Ken in death was his wife Trudie and son, Timothy Meyers, his parents, three sisters: Lillian, Mildred & Dolores, two brothers: Melvin & Donald.
