Nancy C. Weatherman

Funeral Services for Nancy C. Weatherman age 85 of Aurelia will be Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the St. John Church in rural Peterson, IA, with Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating. Burial will be at the Church Cemetery, adjacent to church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.  The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy Carolyn Sickels was born February 11, 1939, at Cromwell, IA, the daughter of Ernest Theodore and Nellie Margaret (David) Sickels. She attended school in Cromwell graduating from the Cromwell High School. On August 29, 1959 Nancy married Lyle Christian Weatherman in Dakota City, NE.  To this union she became the proud mother of Debra, Roger Janet and Larry.  She worked alongside of her husband while they farmed, then became a CNA at the Long House in Spencer and later worked as a home health care aid for Cherokee County. She was an active member of St. John’s Church in rural Peterson as long as her health permitted.  Nancy was a Girl Scout Leader when her girls were young and enjoyed bowling, gardening and crafts.

Nancy died on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the Accura Healthcare of Aurelia, where she had been a resident since March 15, 2021.

Preceding Nancy in death were her parents, and husband Lyle on May 24, 2006. And by two brothers and their wives: Melvin (Mildred) Sickels, Robert (Linda) Sickels.

Survivors include her children and their wives: Debra (Dale) Saathoff of Peterson, IA, Roger (Kathy) Weatherman of Sutherland, IA, Janet (Lynn) Laursen of Aurelia, Larry (Tina) Weatherman of Bedford, VA. Eight grandchildren: April (Jamein) Butler, Rachel (Chad) Lyman, Jesse Weatherman, Christopher Laursen, Elizabeth (Andrew) Perry, Erin (Chris) Wiley, Evan (Kirsten) Laursen, step-grandchildren Jeff (Taylor) Carter, Dustin (Kimberly) Orange, and Jamie Jessee, eleven great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews other relatives, and the staff and volunteers of the Accura Healthcare facility where Nancy was lovingly taken care of.
