Memorial services for William “Bill” Ehly, 59, formerly of Aurelia, IA, will take place at 11:00 on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Aurelia Community Center, with Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the community center. Private family burial will be at the Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, IA. In memory of Bill, dress casually in red to honor his favorite sports teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the St Louis Cardinals.

Bill died of pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at his sister’s home in Holstein, IA.

William Harm Ehly was born on August 18, 1964, in Fort Wayne, IN. He attended Green Park Lutheran School in St. Louis, MO, then junior high and high school in Aurelia, IA, graduating in 1982. He had further education at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA, Bauder College in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Harry Wendlestedt School for umpires in Daytona Beach, FL. He has held various jobs through the years including security in Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio and as a correctional officer in Newton, IA.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Ehly.

Survivors include his mother Norma and her husband Norman Rath of Calumet, IA, siblings Kathy and her husband Larry Gisch of Holstein, IA, and their children Patrick, Sara (Ben) Wetherell, and Nicholas, Julie Kiertzner and partner Loren Fiddelke of Holstein, IA, Alicia and Nathan Keeler and their children Callie, Kyia, and Kordan all of East Bethel, MN, and Nathan and Bridget Rath and their children Brooks and Brynley all of Yutan, NE.
