Funeral services for Douglas “Doug” Hines, 77, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia with Pastor Linda Morris officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 at the Little Sioux Township Cemetery, rural Smithland, IA. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 until 7:00, with a Masonic Service at 7:00, at the First United Methodist Church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Douglas Earl Hines was born November 29, 1944, the son of Earl Glenn and Ellen Marie (Corbin) Hines at Sioux City, Iowa. He attended school in Smithland and at Westwood, graduating from Westwood High School in 1963. He married Linda Catherine Johnson on July 25, 1964 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Reform Church in Mapleton, Iowa. Doug worked for Simonson’s, Hines Construction, drove school bus for Aurelia and later for Alta-Aurelia schools.

Doug was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Pomegranate Masonic Lodge in Alta, and the Sioux City Scottish Rite Consistory. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, trap shooting, and woodworking.

Doug died Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Mercy One Medical Center in Sioux City.

Preceding Doug in death were his parents, his parents-in-law; George and Marie Johnson, four brothers-in-law; James Davis, Rolland Johnson, Bernard Andrews, and Clyde Welch, and two sisters-in-law; Thelma (Johnson) Andrews and Christina (Johnson) Welch.

Those left to cherish his memory are; his wife Linda, one son, Todd, one sister, Karen Davis, one sister-in-law, Sharon (Johnson) D’Ercole, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
