Memorial services for Susan J. Friedrich, 83, of Galva, will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva, with Pastor Paul Egger officiating. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The Redig Funeral Home of Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

Susan Jean Hetrick was born March 20, 1938, the daughter of Orie and Marvel (Watsen) Hetrick near Alta, IA. She graduated from the Alta High School in 1956. On June 15, 1956 Susan married Arliss Friedrich at the Alta Presbyterian Church. She was a housewife and operated the Ridge Runner Roost Café in Galva for 20 years. Later she served coffee at the Dibbern American Legion Post #454 Hall in Galva for ten years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and St. John’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid, and enjoyed going to Branson, MO, quilting, crocheting stocking hats and knitting.

Susan died Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Preceding Susan in death were her parents, one grandson, Stephen, one sister, Jane and husband Lionel Breyfogle, one brother, Orie Hetrick II, sister-in-law Lorraine and husband Henry Glienke, and brother-in-law Melvin Friedrich.

Survivors include: her husband Arliss Friedrich of Galva, one daughter, Audrey Friedrich of Storm Lake, two sons; Scott and his wife Carol Friedrich, and Howard Friedrich all of Alta, grandson Matthew and wife Angie Friedrich of Sioux Rapids, six great-grandchildren, sister Sally and husband Don Caboth of Alta, sister-in-law Phyllis Friedrich of Algona, and other relatives and friends.
