Clayton Diischer, 65, of Alta died on January 5, 2022 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, IA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Alta Community Center on January 29, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The Redig Funeral Home of Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Clayton Dean Diischer was born on August 17, 1956 in Alta, Iowa to John (Jack) and Alice (Haight) Diischer. He grew up near Alta, graduating in 1975 from the Alta High School. Clayton then started driving truck for Energy Transport for a short time before he purchased his own truck and became an independent driver. He was a walking road map of the state’s highway systems. His three major loves were his grandchildren, Freightliner trucks, and his wife Lori (Mackay) who he married on April 7, 1979 at the Congregational Church in Aurelia. They were blessed with four legends: Travis, Ryan, Kyle and Corey. When he was not driving he enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, and horseback riding. He was an avid talker never having met a stranger.
On April 4, 1976 Clayton joined the Pomegranate Masonic Lodge #408 in Alta, becoming a full member of the order on June 17, 1976. He later served as the Master of the Lodge in 1987.
Preceding Clayton in death were his parents, his in-laws, Archie and Janice Mackay, two brothers-in laws; David Mackay and Roy Beukelman.
Surviving Clayton are his wife, Lori of Alta, sons, Travis and his wife Stacey and their children; Eli and Leander of Aurelia, Ryan and his wife Allison and their children; Brayton, Kamdyn, Korbyn, and Griffynn of Aurelia, Kyle and his wife Nicole and their children; Lidia, Colton, and Rylee, of Alta, Corey and his wife Holly and their children; Trevor, Brock, and Parker of Alta, and other relatives and friends.
