Memorial services for Larry A. Sievers, 67, of Aurelia, will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Inurnment will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery, Storm Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial services at the church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials will be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Aurelia.
Larry Alan Sievers was born on May 1, 1949 in Cherokee, Iowa to Lorenz Henry Sievers and Erna Elizabeth (Otto) Sievers. Following graduation from Aurelia High School in 1967, Larry served with the Army in the Vietnam War. Upon his return he attended Universal Trades in Omaha, Nebraska, where he became a mechanic. He made his life in Aurelia, Iowa where he attended St. Paul Lutheran Church, farmed his family’s land, and worked for Simonsen Rendering where he retired in 2015. Upon retirement he enjoyed small construction projects, sharing a beverage with the locals, watching old westerns, and visiting his grandson and family in Ames, Iowa. Larry died unexpectedly at his home on March 11th.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving Larry in death are his son, Daniel (Brooke) Sievers of Ames, Iowa, grandson, Harlan Sievers; brother Dale (Janet) Sievers; niece Micki (Jeff) Feilmeier, and four great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former spouse, Karen Lee and stepchildren, Kelly Simon and John Simon.
