Funeral services for Mary Ann Jensen, 77, of Aurelia, will be Monday, January 23, 2017, at 11:00 A.M., at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Galva East Cemetery, rural Galva. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time at the church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Ann Jensen was born on November 8, 1939 at Holstein, IA, the daughter of August and Esther (Ericksen) Jensen. She attended school in Holstein until the middle of 6th grade, then attended school in Aurelia until the middle of her junior year, and then attended high school and graduated from the Alta High School in 1957. Mary Ann started her work history as a checker at Peterson’s Grocery and Dry Goods Store in Alta, then was employed as a secretary at the Alta School. Then she worked at Christine’s Nursing Home in Alta, was a clerk at J. C. Penny’s Store, then worked for Iowa Power & Mid-American in Des Moines, later she moved to Sioux City and worked for Mid-American. Mary Ann then moved to Oregon where she managed Beach House Clothing Stores, and retired to Aurelia where she worked at the Aurelia Golf Club. She was a member of the data processing management association. Mary Ann was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was involved in Luther League, was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and was the Church Librarian.
Mary Ann died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center in Aurelia.
Preceding Mary Ann in death were her parents, and one brother-in-law, Vernon Rath.
Survivors include her two brothers; Virgil and his wife Jean Jensen of Kingsley, IA, Roger and his wife Sylvia Jensen of Sac City, IA, one sister, Loretta Rath of Aurelia, and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
