Marjorie Jane Johns was born January 22, 1921, the daughter of Lloyd and Edith Blanche (Charlton) Johns in Le Mars, IA. She graduated from the Le Mars Central High School in 1938 and graduated from Central Missouri State with a bachelor’s degree in education and business. She taught mathematics and business courses for four years before she married Merle Dale Robar on December 29, 1946, in Le Mars. They farmed on the Robar family farm, rural Aurelia, their entire married life.

Jane was a member of the Aurelia First United Methodist Church, UMW, taught Sunday school for a number of years, was a Cub Scout den mother, member of the Jolly Janes Neighborhood Club, and was a Resident Advocate for Sunset Knoll Retirement Home residents. She loved working crossword puzzles and reading until her macular degeneration prevented her from doing so and she also loved watching sports on TV. Her family was very dear to her and she enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them. Her last two and a half years were spent living with her daughter, Linda, in Indiana where she was much closer to many family members and able to enjoy time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren attending parties and the like.
