Graveside services for Ruth Anderson, 89, of Cherokee, formerly of Aurelia, will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia, with Pastor Jean Morse of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until service time at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia. A memorial service will be held at a later date due to family health issues.
Ruth Elaine Busser was born on May 31, 1924, the daughter of Claus and Grace (Nickols) Busser in Alton, IA. She graduated from the Wilson High School in Cherokee, IA in 1942. On December 27, 1942 Ruth was united in marriage to Merle Buford Anderson at his family’s farm home near Maryhill, IA. Ruth worked for F.W. Woolworth, Lew McDonald, Esq. and Public Loan Association. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee where she served as secretary of the Women of the E.L.C.A., and as a member of the Alter Guild. Ruth also worked for the Federal Election Board and enjoyed politics. Ruth and Merle made their home in Aurelia from 1958 until they moved to The Gardens in Cherokee in August of 2009.
Ruth died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA.
Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, her husband Merle on December 4, 2012, two brothers; Richard Busser and Donny Busser, and one sister, Marion McDevitt.
Survivors include her children; Doug and his wife Liz Anderson of Bellevue, WA and Peoria, AZ, Janice and her husband Jim Bouquet of Wabasha, MN, and Mark Anderson and his partner Jennifer Herft of Beverly Hills, CA. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Brad and his wife Heather Anderson of Snoqualmie, WA, Michael and his wife Amy Anderson of Snoqualmie, WA, Jacqueline Lovett-Wray and husband Jeff Wray of Haverford, PA, Jill and husband Andrew Brown of Greenville, NC, Erik Anderson of Georgetown, Washington D.C, Ian Anderson of Philadelphia, PA, nine great-grandchildren; Brady and Courtney Anderson, Laura and Logan Anderson, Anne, Brittainy and McKinley Lovett and Natasha Wray, and Chloe and Max Brown, one brother, James and his wife Doreen Busser of Lodi, CA, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
