Private committal services for Orva “Jean” Mill, 88 of Aurelia, formerly of Everly, Iowa were held on Monday, March 24. 2014 at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, with Pastor Larry Lemke of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia officiating. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia was in charge of arrangements.
Orva Jean Schoelerman was born on November, 20, 1925 in Everly, Iowa, IA, the daughter of Reiman and Alma (Peters) Schoelerman. Her childhood years were spent in Everly, where she graduated from the Everly High School. She attended Iowa State University where she earned her degree. Jean taught Home Economics for one year at Polk City, IA, and for one year at Kolo, IA.
On August 10, 1947 Jean married James W. Mills in Everly where they made their home. They retired to Okoboji and Longboat Key, FL. Jean loved the water, fishing, garage sales, and she loved to sew.
Jean was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly where she was president of the Hope Lutheran Church Women, and she helped put quilts together. She was also a member of the Three Cross Church at Milford, and later St. Paul Lutheran in Aurelia.
Jean died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Sunset Knoll Care & Rehab Center in Aurelia.
Preceding Jean in death were her parents and her husband James on December 19, 2013.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, David and his wife Mary Mills of Longboat Key, FL, one daughter, Sue Ireland of Aurelia, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Jessica and husband Jonathan Ticku and their two sons, Jon James and Rishi, Sarah and husband Andy O’Dear and their son Elijah and daughter Sadie, Abigail and husband Olen McGhee, Lindsay and husband TJ Eagan and their son Hunter, and John Ireland.
