Funeral services for Marvin Ehly, 82, of Aurelia, will be Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at 1:00 P.M. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia with Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia. In lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia.
Marvin died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at the Sunset Knoll Care & Rehab Center in Aurelia.
Marvin Ehly was born January 23, 1928, the son of Carl and Katherine (Bentz) Ehly at Isabel, SD. He attended schools in South Dakota and Nebraska, Concordia at Seward, NE, Indiana University in Bloomington and Ft. Wayne, IN. On August 11, 1963, Marvin married Norma J. Seggerman in Marcus, IA. They lived in New Haven, IN, Afton, MO, and Aurelia. He was a teacher, a statistician for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and was City Clerk in Aurelia. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia where he had been a member of the Men of Faith Bible Class, a former choir member and Sunday school superintendant.
Preceding Marvin in death were his parents, one sister, Alma Heinert, and several step-brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one son, William H. Ehly of Marcus, IA, one daughter, Katherine and her husband Lawrence Gisch II of Holstein, three grandchildren; Patrick, Sara, and Nicholas Gisch all of Holstein, and other relatives and friends.
