Beverly Peterson of Truesdale gave up her earthly life on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at the Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, after a brief illness. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Elk Township Cemetery, rural Alta. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

          Beverly Jean Heuton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend was born on June 18, 1941 to Elmer and Martha (Galvin) Heuton at Jefferson, Iowa. She attended school in Jefferson, IA and finished her schooling in Sioux City, Iowa.

On April 7, 1963 she was united in marriage Marvin Eugene Peterson at the Lutheran Church in Sutherland, where Beverly had been helping out area families.  The couple were blessed with two children: Anthony and Keith. She spent her time being a homemaker, taking care of her family and helping Marvin with their farming operation. She spent many happy hours knitting and crocheting, tending their gardens, and enjoying their grandchildren’s sporting events.

In 2001 she and Marvin moved from the farm in the Alta area into Truesdale.  Beverly enjoyed her area birthday clubs.  She loved to travel to visit family and attend threshing events in Iowa as well as other states.  She and Marvin were the unofficial greeting committee at the Highway 3 & 71 Sparky’s Truck Stop, where they often enjoyed coffee and meals.

          Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters-in-law, Arlene Gosch and Marilyn Heuton, and her two brothers-in-law, Carlton Surmons and Stanley Peterson.

          She is survived by her husband Marvin, her two sons; Anthony (Tony) Peterson of Litton and Keith Peterson of Pocahontas, her four beloved grandchildren; Leah Peterson of Sioux Falls, Christina Peterson of Storm Lake, Derris Peterson of Cherokee and Matthew and his wife Liz Peterson of Litton, and two great-grandchildren; Daxton Peterson and Adia Peterson.  Also surviving is one sister, Doris (Dody) Surmons of Winston Salem, NC, two brothers; Glen Heuton of Kansas City, MO, and Rick Heuton of Winston Salem, NC, and two sisters-in-law;  Betty Peterson of Cherokee and Pat Peterson of Aurelia, and one brother-in-law, Bernard (Bernie) and his wife Carol Peterson of Aurelia, and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
