Memorial services for Rodney G. Mongan, 63, of Sioux City, will be Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 1:00 P.M., at the First Congregational Church in Aurelia with Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be from 10:00 A. M. until service time at the church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

          Rodney Glenn Mongan was born June 10, 1954, the son of Lawrence G. and Jeanette M. (McClain) Mongan at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa.  He attended school in Aurelia, graduating from the Aurelia High School in 1972. He was a professional baker and culinary chef, having worked at Cherokee Mental Health, Cherokee Country Club, HyVee Bakery, Vander Meer Bakery in LeMars, the St. Lukes Hospital kitchen in Sioux City, and most recently at the Sioux City Convention Center as a baker and chef. He enjoyed computer games and spending time with his family.

                    Rodney died on September 18, 2017 in his home.

                         Preceding Rodney in death were his parents, and one nephew, Andrew G. Namanny.

          Survivors include; one brother, Loren and his wife Deb Mongan of Aurelia, one sister, Sheryl and her husband Jerry Namanny of Cherokee, eight nieces and nephews; Lance Mongan, Melinda and husband Kenneth Thompson, Kellie and husband Michael Lunning, Adam and wife Michele Namanny, Melissa and husband Rick Still, Brian and wife Nichole Bruns, Kayla Bruns, and Kyle Bruns, and niece-in-law Cloudy Namanny. Also surviving are sixteen great-nieces and nephews, Hanna and Emma Lunning, James Thompson, Matthew, Abram, Caiden, Aaliyah, Riley, and William Bruns, Clayton and Kasey Domsch, Brynna, Carson, Nathaniel, Mendy, and Stacy Namanny, and other relatives and friends.
