Funeral services for Larry D. Kolpin, 86 of Aurelia, will be Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at 10:30 A. M. at the St. John’s Church, rural Peterson, with Lay Pastor David Orthman officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Dean Kolpin was born near Aurelia, Iowa, the son of Fred T. and Edna L. (Tigges) Kolpin on April 20, 1931. He attended country school and graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1948.

On September 3, 1949 Larry married Betty Nelson in Vermillion, S.D. They farmed until retiring in 2009.

Larry was a member of the St. John’s Church and served on the Church Board. He was a member of Farm Bureau, bowling league, and card club.

Larry died Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Preceding Larry in death were his parents, one son, Darwin Craig Kolpin, one sister and her husband; Carolyn Ann and Don Henderson, brothers-in-law Don Stohrer, Bill Fox, and Jerry Drzycimski, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Blair and Doris Watson and Kenneth and Lucille Nelson, and one nephew, Graham Kolpin.

Survivors include his wife Betty of Aurelia, six children; Lynn and her husband Tom Suffield of Cedar Park, TX, Rick and his wife Vicki Kolpin of Aurelia, Rhonda and her husband Don Handy of Aurelia, Van and his wife Julie Kolpin of Eugene, OR, Dana and his wife Sherry Kolpin of West Branch, IA, and Ryan and his wife Lori Kolpin of Aurelia, twenty-one grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother Fredrick G. Kolpin of Las Cruses, NM, four sisters-in-law; Norma Fox of Aurelia, Shirley Drzycimski of Alta, Doloris and her husband Orville Tapper of Marcus, and Arlene Stohrer of Homosassa, FL, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
