MariannewsFuneral services for Marian A. Reilly, 93, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 19, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Thomas Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. The family will be present for visitation on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 at the church. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or the Aurelia Heritage Society. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Marian Adaline Will was born August 21, 1921, the daughter of Herbert and Gladys (Lane) Will at Aurelia. She graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1939. Following graduation she attended Tri State Business School in Sioux City, graduating in 1940. She then worked in Sioux City, and later at the ACS office in Cherokee. On September 5, 1942, Marian married Robert Reilly in South Sioux City, NE. Marian and Bob moved to Aurelia in 1950 to farm and own and operate Reilly Cattle Company. She enjoyed having coffee with friends, and was a member of the Aurelia First United Methodist Church, the Federated Woman’s Club, the Aurelia Heritage Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Aurelia Golf Course, Maple Valley Friendship Club, Pinochle Club, and was a volunteer for the Cherokee County Cancer Society for 15 years ten of which she was Chairman for the county.
Marian died Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center in Aurelia.
Preceding Marian in death were her parents, and her husband Bob on February 2, 1998.
Survivors include three children; Linda and her husband Bob Kelch of Mesa, AZ, Dennis Reilly of Baxter, IA, and Larry and his wife Shanda Reilly of Aurelia. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; Susan and husband Dan Griffin, Sarah and husband Todd Matthies, Ben and wife Elise Reilly, Stephanie Reilly, Robert Reilly, Tadd and wife Amanda Reilly, Kasey Reilly and his fiancé Kristen Copeland, and Kalli Reilly and her fiancé Patrick Myron, twelve great-grandchildren, one brother, Dean and wife Eveline Will of Cherokee, one sister, Joann and husband George Pithan of Sioux City, one sister-in-law, JoAnn Swoboda, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
