ZITTCelebration of life services for Hazel Catherine Zitt, 99, of Storm Lake, will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Storm Lake, with Pastor Thomas Petersen officiating. Entombment will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with the family being present, at the K.C. Hall in Storm Lake. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Catherine Jones was born July 15, 1914 in Boyd, Kentucky, the daughter of Edward Huber Jones and Ida Frances (Cummings) Jones. She attended school in Covington, KY. In 1947 she married Woodrow Roberts, and they later divorced. Hazel went to work for American Airlines in Cincinnati, OH, in 1949 as a bookkeeper, hostess, cashier, and cook. In 1955 Hazel married Jack Zitt, they divorced in 1961. In 1958 she left the airlines and moved to Park Hills, KY, where she worked for Town & Country Restaurant for nine years. In 1968 she moved to Storm Lake where over the years she worked for Storm Lake Pizza House, Lakeshore Café, the Harbor House, Doris’s Downtown, and the Lake Café. Hazel helped open and then worked at the Senior Center for nine years until her retirement in 1989.

Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys in her life.

Hazel died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the North Lake Manor in Strom Lake.

Preceding Hazel in death were her parents, two sisters; Helen Brautigan and Mable Rinehardt, and three brothers; Marvin Jones, Leland Jones, and Kenzie Jones.

Survivors include her children; Mike and his wife Tina Roberts of Barnum, IA, Jackie Hales and Rod Janssen of Spirit Lake, IA, and Georgia and her husband Mike Flanigan of Storm Lake. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Joshua Roberts, Tanner and his wife Amy Roberts, Walker Roberts, Janice Lammers, Justin and his wife Sarah Bock, Katie Flanigan and Abe Flanigan, seven great-grandchildren; Kyle and Derrick Champine, Haley and Piper Roberts, Natalya, Nalayni, and Nadya Bock, one sister-in-law, Frances Jones, and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
