Funeral services for Fern I. Beeghley, 98, of Sioux City, will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Magrey deVega officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the First United Methodist Church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Sanford Day Care, 1724 Geneva St, Sioux City, IA 51103.

            Fern Inez Beeghley was born December 27, 1915 in Aurelia, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Marie (Baumann) Beeghley. She attended school in Aurelia and graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1933. She then attended the National Business Training School in Sioux City. Fern was employed as secretary by Arthur Sanford & Company from 1935 until her retirement in 1983. She was the Director and Treasurer of the Stella Sanford Child Care Center. Fern enjoyed travel, sewing, reading and bowling. She served as a bowling league secretary for 25 years. She was a member of the Aurelia First United Methodist Church.

Fern passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Preceding Fern in death were her parents, and her brother, Ray Beeghley.

Survivors include her niece, Jean and her husband Glenn Bakke of Long Beach, CA, her nephew, William and his wife Glynn Beeghley of LaQuinta, CA, and many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
